A common problem in a professional business atmosphere is the constant worry of the company’s printers being able to cope with an ever-growing workload, without an excess amount of backlog. Some opt out with an A4 printer, but to handle a professional workload accurately and efficiently, it is best to spend the extra money and guarantee that the company will be able to print larger format documents with ease.

The Brother A3 Printer is consistently showing itself to be a top-notch product – being a reasonably priced multi-function A3 printer scanner; it can handle large and small documents with ease. And to add, it is a fairly non-expensive A3 printer that works just as well, if not better, than the steeper priced counterparts.

For any business looking to expand, a fairly priced Brother A3 Printer can substantially help increase workplace productivity. There is no reason to rely on other printers when a combination A3 printer scanner is markedly more reliable and can be bundled with other reliable features, and they come in both personal and large work printers as well. Photographic prints work exceptionally well on an A3 printer scanner, and is one of the largest draws of having an A3 printer scanner.

Another attraction of a Brother A3 Printer is that prints from an A3 printer scanner are notably long lasting and durable, with matte-media prints estimated to last up to one-hundred years.

An A3 printer scanner can come with laser or inkjet capability – the main draw of a laser printer being that it is decidedly more accurate than an inkjet printer, and laser printed documents are not wet when removed from the printer, meaning that a person doesn’t have to worry about unsightly ink smudges, which many people have unfortunately encountered at some pointing their life.

It is hard to go wrong with an A3 printer scanner; they still may be a bit pricey, but there is no doubt that they’re worth the investment.

Unless you are someone who earns money while asleep, I’m pretty sure you are looking to save. Well, everybody is. And if you are someone who needs to print images, blocks of texts, and everything in between day in and day out, I’m pretty sure you dread each time your printer lets out a warning, telling you that it’s about to run out of ink.

So how do you resolve this dilemma experienced by myriads of other guys like you? Simple – buy discount colour ink cartridges! You see, there are a lot of online and offline sources for discount printer ink cartridges – a heck lot that you will have a hard time picking which one to go for.

I know, you may be thinking – “discount” means low quality. And that thinking has prevented a lot of people from taking advantage of these affordable printing options. Back then, YES it’s true when technology is NOT as advanced as it is now and cleaning up, recycling, refilling, and programming these printer ink cartridges was an insurmountable task. Not anymore though.

Nowadays, you can find a lot of great and high quality genuine Canon ink cartridges online that come at a very friendly price. The question is – how are you going to find them? I’m glad you asked. Well, here are a couple of tips and tricks that I have under my sleeve:

1. First and foremost, whenever you are shopping for printer ink cartridges, you should check if they are manufactured from what we came to know as ISO 9001 certified factories. If it is, you can be sure that the printer cartridges they create are of good quality as these factories follow very strict manufacturing guidelines. If you see this certification, you know you are the RIGHT place.

BUT don’t stop there though. Read on.

2. Look for a guarantee – a money back guarantee. You see, only online stores that really deliver offer such guarantees. Those discount printer ink cartridge stores that know they are selling crap won’t have any of these. This is another thing to keep an eye on.

3. Next, you should look for any kind of warranty. The discount printer ink cartridge websites that have the best quality cartridges will give you some warranty to protect you from any sort of defect in their materials. This should offer to replace, refund, or repair any printer damaged by a defective ink cartridge that you bought from them.

4. As much as possible, you want to go for the printer ink cartridge store that offers free shipping. The best websites and stores out there offer either one jaw dropping low fee or better yet, you can have it shipped to you for free.

One discount printer ink cartridge manufacturer that I know passes all of these is 4Inkjets. I have been with them a few years now and they have never failed when it comes to delivering high quality ink cartridges at the right time. Why not check them out and see it for yourself?

Like millions of other consumers, you have probably discovered the inkjet money pit. You bought the best inkjet printer you could find. You were so excited about the great quality prints you could print on your new inkjet printer.

Ink Replacements Are Big Business

It seems that replacement inkjet cartridges are big money makers for the printer companies. It seems they make more money on the cartridges than they do on the printer. It is a very sad marketing ploy by printer manufacturers. They sell their printers at below cost prices and try and make up the profit on replacement print cartridges.

Buying Online Can Result In Considerable Savings

Most people agree that companies are asking for incredible profits on new inkjet cartridges. There are some companies who are trying to address this problem. Kodak is one such company. They have made it their mission to try and alleviate this problem. Another way you can get around this high cost is to buy ink online. There are many web sites that offer compatible or refilled ink cartridges for sale at highly reduced prices. Sites like this are 4Inkjets. This is one of a wide variety of web sites that have been created in response to the high cost of inkjet cartridges. This site, like others, offers professionally refilled and reconditioned inkjet cartridges. Buying ink online from these websites will save you a considerable amount of money.

You will no longer be tempted to throw your new printer in the trash can rather than pay the high cost of replacement ink cartridges. Millions of people have discovered they can buy low cost compatible ink online and have it shipped to their front door. Worried about damaging your warranty? No fears, your printer's warranty is fully protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

These web sites offer a tremendous service. The inkjet manufacturing companies are slowly catching on. They see their business slipping away because they charge too much. Slowly things are changing. Until they do, you should buy your ink online and save some money.

In addition to seeking out the various replacements for your printer ink refills, there are a number of methods to help maximize the life span of your ink cartridge.

Extend the life of your ink cartridges by following these fundamental printer tips.

Tweak Printer Settings To Ensure Printing Efficiency
Firstly, pay attention to the settings on your printer – most printers allow you to have various levels of print quality from draft to normal to best. Make sure to print internal documents in draft mode whenever possible. Draft mode produces legible documents that allow you to easily read or view documents without using the same ink level. Further, make sure to take advantage of print preview to save ink on possible re-prints, so that you are able to review the document on-screen and make any necessary changes before printing it out.

Taking this idea a step further, it is often possible to maintain the document in electronic format by creating a PDF, which allows you to distribute an electronic copy without using any ink.

Save Money By Using Third-Party Printing Solutions
Since not all documents are created equal, make sure to be careful when printing high-color images or photos, which require high levels of ink. Instead, you can order from discount digital photo printing labs online at a lower cost than you could print photos yourself. While it may be tempting to produce business materials solely on your printer, you can also often save money at the margin by utilizing business card, envelope and post specialists rather than using your home or office printer.

Save Ink By Adjusting Your Printer's Settings
When you do print on your own machine, you can adjust the print settings to reduce the ink volume setting. This will enable you to increase the life of your cartridge while having a small impact upon print quality. To get the most from your cartridge, you can buy a high capacity refill rather than a standard cartridge, which will provide a more dense ink refill that extends your print cycle. There are a number of ways to get your ink to last longer, and, over time, this can produce quite a bit of printer savings.

Over the years, I've observed that many people seem to experience the same set of problems with their inkjet printers. So I thought I'd throw out a quick post talking about some of these print quality issues and possible fixes, in a problem-solution format.

Problem: Printer output's color is off (doesn't match what's on-screen), there is a strange colored tint to the page.

Solution: You are either nearly empty on one color of ink (cyan, magenta, or yellow), or the cartridge that corresponds to those colors is clogged/malfunctioning.

To find which cartridge color is the culprit, consult the following:

If Yellow Ink Is The Problem:
Green will be printed as blue and/or orange will be printed as red.
If Magenta Ink Is The Problem:
Violet will be printed as blue and/or orange will be printed as yellow.
If Cyan Ink Is The Problem:
Green will be printed as yellow and/or violet will be printed as red.

Problem: Streaks across printed text, some portions of letters obscured and unclear.

Solution: This is often a symptom of a clogged print head. The safest thing to do in this situation is to simply initiate the print head cleaning process from your printer's software, which will then print out several pages designed to clean out the head.

In the case that your printer's software does not offer this feature, it is possible to clean the print head yourself using an alcohol-based solution, however, this does require considerable caution, as damage to the print-head could occur. Never attempt to do this if the print head is attached to the printer.

Problem: Prints perfectly at first for a few pages, and then suddenly fails to print any more.

Solution: This is a strong indication of an air bubble in inkjet cartridges, especially if your cartridge happens to be a sponge-filled cartridge. You can either attempt to clear the obstruction yourself with caution, or simply replace the cartridge.

There are a couple of other common problems that printer users can face (which I will cover in more detail in a later post), but just wanted to get this post out there to guide and help anyone that may be facing similar problems right now.

When using printer cartridges there are many ways in which you can help your printer run more smoothly, allowing yourself the best value possible out of your printer cartridges. Learning a few simple tips and tricks can help save you a lot of effort and money.

Your printer software may not be reporting accurate ink levels.

Is Your Printer Software Telling The Truth About Ink Levels?

Often, there will be software bundled with your printer installation that can send false messages as to the status of your ink cartridges. For example, certain printers may state a cartridge as empty just because it has been in the printer for a certain period of time. There may be perfectly good ink left in the cartridge that your printer is not allowing you to make use of, so there are a number of hacks you can try to prevent this waste. You can do a simple search online with your specific printer make and model to find hacks that users have provided. Alternatively, you might want to check that there is no unwanted software causing these restrictions and uninstall them.

Just Add Water To Revive Your Cartridge

When you find that print quality is deteriorating but there is still ink left in the cartridge, there is a simple trick you can try to unblock the nozzles and improve print quality. Remove the cartridge and place it in water for a few hours.

After removing it, gently blot it dry and leave it to dry in a safe place overnight. Put it back in your printer and see if the quality of your printouts is improved. You can also try using your printer software’s nozzle check feature which keeps the ink wet in the nozzles. Though it uses a small amount of ink, it is a cost effective way of keeping the cartridges printing well.

Reset Your Ink Cartridge's Chip

You may be able to get a chip resetting device from online auction sites such as eBay. This chip is something you will need if you are planning to refill ink cartridges on your own. A simple search will yield a number of results for your particular make and model and save you a lot of money in the long run.

These are just a few of the ways in which you can save money by keeping track on the ink you are using and the ink that is still available. You should also read packaging carefully to make sure that you are getting a good amount of ink and a good deal.

When it comes to printers, it is of no surprise that the ink costs far more than the actual machine. In fact, it is a common practice to charge $10 or more for a couple of ounces of ink.

With prices like this, are there any ways to save money? Two common methods to save some cash include buying refilled cartridges or looking for deals on new cartridges. A lesser known method involves changing some settings and changing printing habits so that overall, less ink is consumed.

In Windows, to enable the ink-saving feature, follow these steps:

Open the control panel

Select the printer/fax setting panel

Open up the printer/fax setting panel

Select and open up your printer

Open up the preferences dialog box

This step varies for each printer, but look for a setting that enables a lower quality or quick print setting. Both of these settings force the printer to use less ink.

For Apple computers, follow these steps:

Go to System Preferences

Select the Printer & Fax panel

Select your printer

Go to the printer’s settings, and look for a lower quality or quick print setting (this step varies depending on the printer).

Other Ink Saving Tips

Another way to save ink when printing is to use the grayscale feature. This feature forces the printer to convert any color images into black & white, thus eliminating any color ink usage.

Another way to save ink when printing is to only select what you want to print. On the internet, for example, this is useful because web pages tend to have a lot of unwanted filler. Removing it can be difficult, since the methods vary by web browser.

In Firefox, the Nuke Anything Enhanced extension allows the user to select and hide various elements of a web page. These elements can range from pictures to blocks of text, etc. Once the elements are hidden, print the selected page, and you’ll get exactly what you want.

Refilling Inkjet Cartridges

There are many ways to refill an ink cartridge; some are more dangerous than others. For the average user, the best solution is to purchase a DIY ink refill kit from a retailer like 123Refills or 4Inkjets. These are available for both inkjet and laser printers. The content of each kit varies depending on the manufacturer, but the process is the same.

The inkjet refill begins by injecting the ink into the cartridge. Using the included syringe and needle, the injection is either performed through a hole in the cartridge or by removing the entire top of the cartridge and then injecting the ink. Depending on the demand, one may choose to buy ink in bulk so that multiple refills can be performed at a steep discount.

After the injection, small adjustments are made to ensure proper air balance within the cartridge. Once the refill is complete, the cartridge must be reinstalled and have test prints run. Sometimes, the ink must be forced through the sponge at the bottom of the chamber before the initial flow. Lastly, the print heads must be cleaned and inspected to prevent any blockage.

Refilling Laser Toner

For laser printers, toner bins can be refilled in much the same way as inkjet cartridges. The first method involves using a syringe and needle, and the second method involves using a funnel to add more toner. From my personal experience, the best places to get toner for refilling is either 4Inkjets or 123Refills. Laser printers are often more difficult to refill as the basic technology is much more complex than an inkjet. Laser printers need to have the waste hopper emptied as well, which can be dangerous if any of the loose toner dust is inhaled.

The second and final reason why laser printers are more difficult to repair is the cleaning procedure prior to adding more toner. Laser printers have complex blade and drum systems that need to be cleaned and inspected for any wear and tear.

Small business paperwork often requires printing hard copies of everything from contracts to memos requires frequent printing. Even with the best printer, the cost of printer ink can quickly add up. This guide will help you begin to recycle your printer cartridges to improve your bottom line and, at the same time, make your company more environmentally friendly.

Start by reviewing your existing cartridge costs, so you can immediately see the benefits of starting to recycle ink. Printer companies set high prices on replacement cartridges by limiting easily available alternatives. The good news for your company is that you can buy recycled ink cartridges online, and can also sell used cartridges whether you intend to recycle or sell them. Ink recycling companies make the process easy by providing prepaid labels and packaging to help you return your printer cartridges. Often, ink recyclers provide free next day shipping, even on recycled toner.

While the process of recycling ink cartridges can be easy, make sure you pay attention to the details when selecting a recycling provider. When choosing to purchase re-manufactured ink cartridges, pay close attention to the life cycle of a cartridge: packaging from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is priced higher because of the limited life-cycle of the product. You can expect to save up to 50% or more on recycled cartridges with your ink trade-in in addition to the lower base costs of ink recycling companies. These savings can add up quickly over time, especially for small businesses on a limited budget. Make sure that if you are buying a re-manufactured cartridge that it is compatible with your printer: rely upon model numbers rather than printer names when finding out which printer you have.

The are a number of steps you can take to get the most from your recycled ink including printing internal documents in draft mode, and using electronic documents where possible. Good printers will provide a number of print modes and options to help you reduce ink costs for your business. Over the life cycle of a printer, the majority of the cost will be in cartridge replacement, so chose your printer carefully. No matter what your business needs are, you can reduce printer costs by making smart recycling and ink use decisions in your office.

So you're seeing one or more of these performance issues with your printer output:

Horizontal white lines

"Ghost" images - image that has already been printed shows up again, but much more faded

Splotches of ink appear on the printed page

Canon PIXUS Printhead

What can be done to try to remedy these issues?

Clean the cartridge print head nozzles using alcohol and a cotton swab. The nozzles could be clogged, which leads to uneven dispension of ink. It's also possible to clean the print head via your printer's software (if there is a "Head Cleaning" or equivalent option).

Verify that the paper type in the printer matches the paper type listed in the printer's setup.

Check that the print head ribbon is securely attached, as it could have come loose.

Disconnect the printer from its electrical outlet, and clean the print head electrical contacts with alcohol to remove any paper dust that may have accumulated.

Restart both the PC and the printer, and then make sure that all connections are tightly secured.

If the above tips are not successful in solving your printer problems, then I would look at possibly replacing the ink cartridge altogether, as it may be an issue with the print head itself.
