Like millions of other consumers, you have probably discovered the inkjet money pit. You bought the best inkjet printer you could find. You were so excited about the great quality prints you could print on your new inkjet printer.

Ink Replacements Are Big Business

It seems that replacement inkjet cartridges are big money makers for the printer companies. It seems they make more money on the cartridges than they do on the printer. It is a very sad marketing ploy by printer manufacturers. They sell their printers at below cost prices and try and make up the profit on replacement print cartridges.

Buying Online Can Result In Considerable Savings

Most people agree that companies are asking for incredible profits on new inkjet cartridges. There are some companies who are trying to address this problem. Kodak is one such company. They have made it their mission to try and alleviate this problem. Another way you can get around this high cost is to buy ink online. There are many web sites that offer compatible or refilled ink cartridges for sale at highly reduced prices. Sites like this are 4Inkjets. This is one of a wide variety of web sites that have been created in response to the high cost of inkjet cartridges. This site, like others, offers professionally refilled and reconditioned inkjet cartridges. Buying ink online from these websites will save you a considerable amount of money.

You will no longer be tempted to throw your new printer in the trash can rather than pay the high cost of replacement ink cartridges. Millions of people have discovered they can buy low cost compatible ink online and have it shipped to their front door. Worried about damaging your warranty? No fears, your printer's warranty is fully protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

These web sites offer a tremendous service. The inkjet manufacturing companies are slowly catching on. They see their business slipping away because they charge too much. Slowly things are changing. Until they do, you should buy your ink online and save some money.

Most people who own a personal computer also own an inkjet printer. Inkjet printers are very affordable. Inkjet printers usually come as part of a new computer package. Inkjet printing quality has improved with technology in the past few years.

Printer Ink Costs Today Are Astronomical

Today, you can achieve fantastic quality prints from your inkjet printer. This quality comes at a price. That price is the high cost of replacement ink cartridges. This replacement cost is astronomical, and typically, the replacement ink cartridges cost more than a new printer.

For most people this boggles their minds. They can’t understand how a replacement ink cartridge can actually cost more than a new printer. Thus, refilling your expended ink cartridges has become a big business. There are kits that you can buy that allow you to refill your own cartridges.
There are also companies that will refill the cartridge for you. There are also companies that sell refilled cartridges. For most consumers these companies are a god send. Refilled ink cartridges can typically save you 30 to 50% over a new cartridge.

Choose From A Variety of Ink Refilling Options

The online printer ink supplier 4Inkjets offers everything you need to refill your ink cartridges. They are one of the many companies who have stepped up and provide a great service to consumers. The 4Inkjets site offers quality replacement ink cartridges at a fraction of the cost.
This website and others like it provide a fantastic service to consumers. This website proves that inkjet printer cartridges do not have to cost an arm and a leg. Refilling your ink cartridge is also eco-friendly. Environmentalists are all for refilling and recycling inkjet cartridges. This practice saves the earth. By refilling your ink cartridges, you keep one less item from ending up in landfills.

The next time you need a new inkjet cartridge you should try a recycled and refilled cartridge instead.

Over the years, I've observed that many people seem to experience the same set of problems with their inkjet printers. So I thought I'd throw out a quick post talking about some of these print quality issues and possible fixes, in a problem-solution format.

Problem: Printer output's color is off (doesn't match what's on-screen), there is a strange colored tint to the page.

Solution: You are either nearly empty on one color of ink (cyan, magenta, or yellow), or the cartridge that corresponds to those colors is clogged/malfunctioning.

To find which cartridge color is the culprit, consult the following:

If Yellow Ink Is The Problem:
Green will be printed as blue and/or orange will be printed as red.
If Magenta Ink Is The Problem:
Violet will be printed as blue and/or orange will be printed as yellow.
If Cyan Ink Is The Problem:
Green will be printed as yellow and/or violet will be printed as red.

Problem: Streaks across printed text, some portions of letters obscured and unclear.

Solution: This is often a symptom of a clogged print head. The safest thing to do in this situation is to simply initiate the print head cleaning process from your printer's software, which will then print out several pages designed to clean out the head.

In the case that your printer's software does not offer this feature, it is possible to clean the print head yourself using an alcohol-based solution, however, this does require considerable caution, as damage to the print-head could occur. Never attempt to do this if the print head is attached to the printer.

Problem: Prints perfectly at first for a few pages, and then suddenly fails to print any more.

Solution: This is a strong indication of an air bubble in inkjet cartridges, especially if your cartridge happens to be a sponge-filled cartridge. You can either attempt to clear the obstruction yourself with caution, or simply replace the cartridge.

There are a couple of other common problems that printer users can face (which I will cover in more detail in a later post), but just wanted to get this post out there to guide and help anyone that may be facing similar problems right now.

Inkjet printers helped to revolutionize desktop printing by providing near-laser quality at a much lower cost basis. Inkjets are non-impact and utilize nozzles to transfer ink onto the printing medium.

The dots created a minuscule, so small that several fit on each millimeter of printing material (the dots themselves are more narrow than a human hair) and are multi-colored, which allows for sharp images to be created.

Inkjet Cartridge Components

Inside of an ink jet, the print head contains the core of the mechanical technology which controls the nozzles. When you install the ink cartridge, the stepper motor is used to control the movement of the cartridge across the printing medium, creating the mechanical process that develops the image. A standard belt is utilized to connect the print head to the step motor, while a stabilizer ensures a predictable, steady motion. The printing medium, most commonly paper, is controlled by a paper feeder and a series of rollers which ensures that the printing process moves in coordination with the output.

From that point, there are two primary technologies used by inkjets to transfer ink.

Lexmark Z640 Thermal Printer

Thermal Transfer Method

The most common thermal method uses heat to create ink bubbles which expand and contract to create images on the printing medium. This method utilizes hundreds of nozzles to improve image quality, which allows for a high resolution image without the cost of laser toner. Generally, the more nozzles that an inkjet has, the better the image resolution will be. Today's ink jet printers offer a high level of resolution, at near laser-quality.

Piezo Electric Method

Another electric technology controls the ink flow through electric transfer which can improve the level of detail in the images, although this method is less commonly used. With this method, each nozzle contains a crystal which holds a charge that creates a vibration which controls the flow of ink. Since this method is controlled by a mechanical, programmed process, the variation in output is lower and the overall level of quality is higher. Today's photo jet printers can achieve resolutions of over 1440 dots per inch, which allows for creation of lifelike, photo quality pictures.
